How Dr. Raj Bhayani is
Building a Legacy of Service
What does it truly mean to be successful? For many, it might be a thriving career or a beautiful home. But for Dr. Raj Bhayani, success is a bridge-one he builds every day between the bustling streets of New York City and the quiet villages
of India, between healing patients and empowering entire communities. One moment, he is a top surgeon in Manhattan; the next, he is planning a new nursing school for women near Varanasi. His life is a powerful story of ambition, service,
and a deep connection to his roots.
While he built a flourishing medical group with offices across New York, Dr. Bhayani saw that his work couldn’t stop at the clinic door. He noticed a powerful truth about his community. “As Indian doctors in this country are a very, very
powerful group,” he explains. “Every seven patients in this country is treated by Indian doctors. That shows the importance and impact we can have.”
This realization became his mission. As a founder and leader in organizations like the Federation of Indian Physicians Associations (FIPA), he works tirelessly to unite Indian doctors, believing that a shared voice can lead to better care
for everyone and a stronger community. For him, it’s not just about networking; it’s about making sure the voices of nearly 100,000 Indian- American doctors are heard where it matters most.
Yet, no matter how successful he became in America, his heart remains deeply connected to his homeland. This isn’t just a feeling; it’s a call to action. Imagine a village near Varanasi where 50,000 women are finding new hope and
opportunities. This is the work of Dr. Bhayani’s charitable foundation.
Through his organization, a small clinic has grown into a 10- bed hospital and soon, a nursing school, all designed to make women self-reliant. What drives a man to do so much? For Dr. Bhayani, the answer is simple: gratitude. He remembers
his own humble beginnings and the people who helped him along the way. He doesn’t see his success as his own, but as a gift to be shared.
“I think it’s… we are just means of the God where we need to serve the humanity and community,” he shares with deep sincerity. “God has graced us tremendously and immensely. So there is a reason why God has blessed us, because through us,
He wants us to distribute what we have learned to other people who are deserving.”
Dr. Bhayani’s journey began not in a fancy American university, but in Bombay. After starting his medical training in India, he brought his dreams and determination to the United States, where he earned a place in the highly respected
medical programs at Ivy League universities Columbia and Cornell. Today, he is a leading surgeon in his field. As an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) and facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Bhayani specializes in the complex structures of the head and
neck, from helping people breathe better to restoring confidence through his surgical skills.
Dr. Raj Bhayani’s story teaches us that a meaningful life is built on more than personal achievements. It is about having a “passion to serve” and using your skills to lift up those around you. His journey is a powerful reminder to our
community that true success isn’t just about reaching the top-it’s about building a bridge so that others can cross with you.
