Celebration, Collaboration, and Togetherness
at the Gujarati Physicians Convention
More than 2,000 physicians of Gujarati heritage came together in Atlanta this July for the Gujarati Physicians Convention 2025. This is an inspiring five-day gathering that combines professional enrichment with vibrant cultural celebration.
It’s hosted at the Signia by Hilton, the convention strengthened bonds within the community and spotlighted the remarkable contributions of Gujarati doctors across the United States and beyond.
The convention drew alumni from BMCAA, BJMC, NHL, Jamnagar, Surat, PSMC, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Bombay, Nagpur, and many other regions across India and the wider Gujarati diaspora. Marking its fourth edition after previous conventions in Ohio,
Florida, and Atlantic City, this year’s gathering was the largest yet, uniting thousands under one roof for learning, culture, and community.
Under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Ajeet Kothary and Co-Chairs Dr. Shirish Patel, Dr. Gunjan Shukla, Dr. Sumul Rawal, and Dr. Raj Bhayani, the event offered thoughtful programming and a welcoming atmosphere that encouraged collaboration
and fellowship. Senior physician leaders including Dr. Dalsukh Madia, Dr. Mukesh Patel, Dr. Manoj Shah, Dr. Vinod Shah, and Dr. Naresh Parikh helped shape the event’s vision and ensured that every session reflected excellence and unity.
India’s Consul General in Atlanta, Mr. Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan, addressed the gathering as a special guest, praising the dedication and leadership of Indian-origin physicians in both their adopted country and their homeland. The convention
honored leaders who paved the way for future generations – Dr. Kiran Patel was recognized for decades of service and philanthropy, and Dr. Madhu Parikh received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her commitment to uniting Gujarati doctors
globally.
Educational sessions accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME) drew hundreds of attendees eager to learn about the latest clinical advances and global health developments. These sessions offered a valuable platform for knowledge
sharing and professional growth, empowering physicians to serve their communities with cutting-edge expertise and renewed confidence.
The evenings came alive with music, dance, and performances that brought people of all ages together. Traditional and contemporary acts created an atmosphere where young physicians, students, and their families connected with elders,
celebrating their shared heritage with pride and joy.
Attendees reunited with old friends, expanded networks, and discussed future partnerships, from promoting medical research and public health projects in India to empowering second- and thirdgeneration youth in America. Events like this
strengthen community roots, foster a sense of belonging, and build a collective spirit to give back.
Delegates left Atlanta with deep gratitude for the dedicated organizers and a shared promise to grow this bond of knowledge, culture, and service for generations ahead.
